I was reading Bikozulu’s articles on his website and somehow
found myself on the men and marriage column. I wanted to see what men have to
say about marriage, their experiences, fears, regrets… basically what a
married man looks like.
And with every article each man recounted his life. And just like we’re all different each was unique. One thing, however, stood out from them all – Identity. Marriage gives men identity, a source of pride, a title, a name, something to be proud of. You finally become the man your father was or the man your father wasn’t depending on how you two related.
Marriage gives men purpose and the brave ones take the
challenge head-on. You start making plans on where to live, what business to
start, what opportunities to pursue because now you are not living for yourself
but a higher calling, something bigger than you.
Failure and success of any marriage is solely tied to the
man. This is why society cringes at the idea of a man with weak mentality. It matters
how a boy is brought up because if he is not strong then his marriage will
crumble or not achieve its potential best.
It is imperative that society raises strong men because
strong men equals strong marriages and strong families. And families are the
basic units of the society… you see where I am going with this?
