I recently discovered that I was grown. I mean there are still
traces of immaturity but a bigger percentage I can confirm is ripe. So why is
this important? Well, you see, many people stress about acting right. They want
to ‘act their age’ as they’ve been told by society without knowing that age is
just a number.
What I have come to realize is that eventually the adulting settles in. So do not be in a rush to appear grown. Do the goofy stuff you feel like
doing, make those mistakes, fail, laugh as loud as you can, and don’t be shy to
jump in a bouncy castle because trust me, one day, you will outgrow all those
habits.
I have been a firm advocate of being one’s authentic self
and have lived out this truth. I have made numerous and costly mistakes along
the way but never once was it in a path I hadn’t chosen. There is a certain
comfort that comes from knowing that you got yourself in this mess, it’s the
feeling that allows you to dance in the mud. It is not because you do not tell
yourself that you should have known better but just resting in knowing that you
are responsible for you and you will get you out if this – you got you.
The interesting thing about life is that You. Will. Get. There.
Society may term it as ‘late’ but who cares? It is your life and you should
live it by your rules. You will get there someday. Maybe not today or tomorrow
but as long as you still have breath in your lungs, you will get there. There
academically, relationally, financially, mentally, spiritually, morally…
whatever aspect of life you feel you are not there yet, it will come.
