Covid has really ravaged lives and left a massive loss in its wake. What scares me the most is how and what type of people we will come out like (that is if we do).
As a containment measure, they say the best way to stay free
of the virus and reduce chances of contracting it is by being selfish. Think about
yourself and your loved ones, avoid doing things that might put you and them at
risk. And this is good. We ought to continue doing that. My fear is when the
virus ends, and we do not have to follow such protocols with as much strictness
as we do now, what will have been implanted in our subconscious? Are we subtly
propagating another pandemic? Will it be a me-first world (well, it has been
but this time don't you feel it may go a notch higher?)
With every one having been affected by the pandemic either
directly or indirectly, I fear covid will take the part of us that makes us
human, our ability to feel, to empathize, to care…. I hope it doesn’t but the
possibility of that actually happening is high and terrifying.
When you see so much death and misery around you something about you
changes. I’m petrified to imagine this on a large scale. I pray I’m wrong
because if not, then it’s going to be a cold world full of numb people.
Stay safe y’all.
