PRIME

I joined an Instagram live the other day hosted by this famous person. Back in the day she was the ish. We loved and followed her religiously (you know celebrities) but in her live were just thirty or so of us. This is despite the fact that what she was discussing was what a huge lot of us needed to hear. Later on that same night another lady went live and her audience was hitting fifteen thousand in a matter of minutes!

The second lady wasn’t even talking, just playing music in the background and shaking her shoulders as she sipped whatever she was sipping. Fifteen thousand people had just come online to see a lady staring back at the screen reading their comments!!

It was unbelievable. The contrast was huge. So I kept asking myself why. A lot of whys actually.

Then it hit me. We all have a prime. A time when we are operating at our full potential. And during this time we have a duty to God and to man to use our abilities for the good of society. The first lady was way past her prime while the second on was currently in hers (that’s my argument)

Fruits grow until they reach a time when they ripen. At that stage, they are either sweetest or give the best nutrients. If you eat them earlier, they might be poisonous or if late, they will definitely be rotten. Every fruit has its season. The Swahili have a saying ‘maembe ni ya msimu’

We are all fruits growing in this world and there is a purpose or mandate we have to accomplish. We may not currently be in a position to fully exercise our mandate but there will come a time when we will be operating optimally.

Make hay while the sun shines. It’s a common phrase but if we twist it, you’ll realize that we are the ‘hay’ here and there will be a time when the sun will shine on us. We ought to make the most of that time so that we will impact the world fully each one in our own special way. After that, we will grow old (for some) while others will go to heaven (early) with a smile of satisfaction and fulfillment.

So, what do you think? What’s your take on this? What have you seen others say of this?  Is there like a book or article about this phenomenon out there? If there is then don’t hesitate to share so we read it. Knowledge grows!!!
