There is this young boy in the good book called Samuel. One day
lil man is asleep in the temple (his mom had left him there) Had it been in our
time he would be the Jewish version of Victor Githu that annoying kid who is
always yapping on tv instead of playing with mud like his agemates (if kiherehere was a
person 🙄) Anyway since we didn’t exist in those times we get the benefit of
hindsight.
So mans asleep then he hears someone call him. Since only
him and Eli the priest lived there he assumed it was the priest and he runs to him
like hey oldie I’m trying to catch some sleep what’s it with you and calling me at
this ungodly hour? Again if it was in our day I’d be sus with this narrative given the
recent history between priests and small boys 😂
This back and forth between lil man and Eli happened like
thrice until the priest was like I guess it’s God calling him so he told Samuel
how to respond next time the voice calls and sure enough the next time the voice called they had a little chat with God Himself! lucky kid
Two things stood out for me in this.
1.
When God speaks to us, He uses a familiar voice.
That’s why Samuel kept thinking it was Eli calling him. So in our cases, He
will speak through our siblings or family members, bosses, religious leaders,
favourite youtuber, tiktoker or favourite instagrammer…. A familiar voice. You won’t
miss it.
2.
When God has something to tell us He will keep
calling and calling and calling until we realize it is Him. He doesn’t call
once and then go like too bad you weren’t home, not at all. He will keep at it
as long as we are alive until we answer. When you finally realize it’s been Him
calling, answer.
As always, a masterpiece
