I was having a conversation with my boss the other day. He’s
a devout Hindu and he led me into their religion. It was interesting I must
say. I couldn’t help but notice how passionate he spoke of his faith. It was
beautiful. It’s always beautiful watching someone speak about a topic they’re
passionate about. I find it thrilling even if I have the wildest idea of what
they’re saying.
What struck me most were the similarities between the Hindu
religion and Christianity. What we Christians call trinity they call trimurti. And
if you look closely you’ll see that practically all major religions in the
world are to a degree similar.
And that got me thinking, am I only a Christian because I was
born in a Christian home? Let’s face it, if you were born in Iraq chances are
you’d be Muslim or if you were born in Calcutta chances are you’d be Hindu.
Geographical locations have played a role in the religions we profess.
My challenge to you is, are you a Christian because you chose
to or because you grew up in a Christian country? Are you Muslim because you
chose Islam or it’s because you were born in a Muslim country? Make sure you
can say you made the choice for your faith. Don’t just go about life blindly, take a step back and look into your lifestyle and beliefs, if they’re
in line with your profession then proceed, if not then make the necessary
adjustments. Live your truth, not what was told to you.
