The year 2023 is here with us. Happy new year
beloved, I hope you crossed over safely.
I was scrolling the interwebs earlier today when I came across
this interesting channel where this relationship coach was giving his advice on
what a great relationship looks like. It was an interesting discussion and I learned
a lot from him.
Along the presentation he made this statement ‘love alone is not enough’ and it got me thinking, what exactly is
love? From the replies, most of the people seemed to agree with the statement but none appeared to really get it right on what love really is.
Love is not an emotion we feel. There is the feeling
of affection towards a loved one yes, but that alone does not constitute love. I love my
brothers, for instance, but that is not a feeling. It is more than just a
feeling. So, what is love?
To quote the Bible,
‘Love
is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It
does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not
rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.’
I agree that we have strong feelings towards our partners and these can at times cloud our judgement when choosing who to settle down with. It is advisable to look beyond the feelings when choosing said partner but to trivialize love to a feeling or emotion is erroneous.
Now that we know what love is I can confidently say
that love alone is enough.
True, love is more than a feeling
